The Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education at South China Normal University is officially established in May 2021, as a response to a set of plans about artificial intelligence in education (AIED) by the State Council and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Our mission revolves around the core principles of being "research-oriented and innovation-driven." We place a strong emphasis on four key areas within the realm of AIED: talent cultivation, scientific research, industry-university cooperation, and social services. We focus on the fundamental theories and key technologies that drive AIED. Our aim is to contribute to the advancement of AIED on an international scale.
Talent Cultivation
The institute aims to become a prominent hub for nurturing AIED talent. We are committed to cultivate interdisciplinary experts, including masters, PhDs, and post-doctoral researchers. These skilled individuals will be equipped to take on vital roles in higher education institutions, educational administration units, research institutes, primary and secondary schools, as well as AIED-related enterprises.
Scientific Research and Cooperation
Through cooperative efforts with both on-campus and off-campus research institutions and enterprises, we aim to undertake cutting-edge interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research. Leveraging the unique strengths of SCNU and the industry, we will translate scientific and technological breakthroughs in AIED into practical applications, promoting their widespread use.
Social Services
We recognize the immense potential of AIED in advancing education and regional development. By utilizing the educational expertise and resources of SCNU, we actively contribute to the high-quality development of education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area. Additionally, we strive to implement AIED tools for social services throughout the region.
